ABOUT NINE TEN CUSTOMS
THE HISTORY
In 2014 NINE TEN CUSTOMS was founded by Josh Warncke who arguably had no business being in business. After receiving several requests for home improvement and small building projects Josh opened the doors to NINE TEN not knowing where things would lead. It was a slow and painful start, storing the entire business in an enclosed trailer in his parents front lawn and building the majority of the wood working projects in Rolf Wancke’s two car garage. Despite the logistical difficulties and general lack of business knowledge, the requests for work continued to increase.
In 2017 business stopped for ten months while Josh worked a maintenance position in Lancaster, PA to support his wife’s completion of college. Resuming business in late fall quickly led to a large influx of work requests as well as higher profile projects. The business quickly tripled in size and revenue with the help of Josh’s good friend Seth.
In 2019 Rolf Warncke Joined the NINE TEN Team, Rolf’s extensive knowledge of fine woodworking has help guide the business towards its goal of being amongst the nations best woodworkers both in the home and furniture industries.
WHERE WE GET OUR NAME
Our name is pulled from Ecclesiastes 9:10 but is also echoed in Colossians 3:23 which both state: “Whatever it is your hand finds to do, do with all your Strength/heart” We are firm believers in the truth of God’s word and we hope that every project that passes through our business is completed with a combination of our greatest passion and best efforts.
THE NINE TEN WAY
Quality
As our fast paced world consistently pushes consumers to treat furniture and cabinetry as disposable, we strive to produce wooden goods that last. Cabinets that can be used by three generations, furniture that can be handed down for years to come, and trim work that speaks of long lost craftsmanship.
Integrity
Respect and honesty are priority at NINE TEN CUSTOMS. Not only because they produce returning customers but more so because gain at the expense of a relationship is no gain at all.
Efficiency
The ability to accomplish a task in a timely manner has value for both the customer and our business. We strive to maintain a high level of productivity. We also believe efficiency in the use of materials and time allows us to stay competitive with our pricing.
Teamwork
It’s true that a proficient individual can accomplish much but a group of proficient individuals yoked together provides a level of comfort for all throughout any given task. We not only strive to work daily as a team but we also hope our customers feel and understand their role in our team.
OUR “WHY”
As we briefly touched upon in the above “quality” paragraph we have a hard time conforming to the fast paced demands of today’s culture. We want to slow the world down with each piece we build. We want families to have dinner at the table where their great grandparents sat. We want meals to be made in kitchens filled with generations of happy faces. Filling life with quality products improves quality of life. Even when it comes to our team member’s personal purchases and life choices we all firmly believe in quality. The saying “Buy once, cry once” often finds its way through our work shop and office.
“I still have a fishing reel that I purchased when I was 14yrs old. I have fished with it for 20 years and it still shows no sign of stopping. At the time I had saved every penny I had in order to make the purchase, it was $80 which for me was a high number. When I look at that reel today I feel nothing but satisfaction. I am grateful for every fish it has fought, I am excited for the fish to come, and I am sad to think a day might come when I give up on it…I don’t think it will give up on me. When a customer sits at one of our tables, or looks at their custom cabinetry or millwork. That’s what I want them to feel!” -Josh Warncke
